Analysis of Germany

Germany covers a region of about 137, 847 square miles which consists of 134, 836 square miles of land and 3, 011 square miles of water. Germany is classified as the 7th largest country in Europe and it is centrally located in the European continent. It shares borders with Denmark, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Netherlands. This central location makes the German market highly suitable for both local and foreign businesses. Climate. Germany has a temperate climate which is seasonal and dominated by the westerly winds.

In the Northern parts of Germany, the climate is oceanic with rainfall throughout the year and maximum rainfall in summer. Just like most parts of Europe, German winters are relatively mild and its summers are cool though temperatures can at times go beyond 30° Centigrade. The climate of the northern region is much favorable for business unlike the western regions which experience a continental kind of climate with extreme weather conditions during both the summer and the winter seasons.

The central and southern climates vary between oceanic and continental. Topography. The topography of Germany is quite varied with sandy regions, forested ridges, hills and plateaus. Most of the highlands are fertile and thickly forested. The highest point is Zugspitze located on the Austrian border which measures about 2, 962 meters in height. The only major lake in Germany is L. Constance (536 km2) which it shares with Austria on one border and Switzerland on the other (National Geographic Society, 2006).

Environment. Germany is known to be a highly environmentally conscious country and is a major supporter of the Kyoto protocols and other treaties which are focused towards creating a cleaner and greener environment. The German government has introduced emission reduction strategies for all the manufacturing industries located in the region to reduce its level of carbon emissions which is believed to be the highest among all members of the coca cola brand audit.

The government has also announced plans to stop the use of nuclear energy in the production of electricity as a step towards meeting the EU commitment of a nature preservation. Government. Germany has 16 member states and its capital is Berlin. It has a federal, parliamentary and democratic political system. This political system is based on a constitution document or a Basic Law known as Grundgesetz which was passed back in 1949 (Fulbrook, 2001). this document has remained in use without any modifications even after the German reunification in 1990.

The country is currently ruled by a Federal President who acts as the Head of state with representative powers and a Federal Chancellor who is the government head with executive powers similar to those of a prime minister. Bundestag and Bundesrat form the Federal parliament and together they form a legislative body. Since 1949, the German politics have been dominated by two major political parties which include the Christian Democratic Party (CDC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Other smaller parties which are have made significant impacts in German politics include the Free Democratic Party and The Greens.
